Temp requirements for deep/cool water fish?

I have a real interest in keeping some deep water butterflies, preferably the Bank's. I don't have much experience with deeper water fish, no experience with the Bank's obviously. I have a seasonal temp swing, which I'll explain below, to contend with. I'd appreciate any input on how this might affect the fish. I'd imagine they deal with something similar in the sea, but life in a glass box isn't exactly the same.

Right now I run my tank at 70*F. I can maintain this most of the year. I use a direct air exchange system to cool the tank and I'm somewhat at the mercy of the outside temperature when it's very hot outside. Last summer I might have hit 76-77 on the hottest day (around 106 outside). So I have to live with some amount of seasonal temp swing, but the daily temp swing is usually not more than 1 degree.

I would get a chiller and just run it during the summer, it wouldn't be too bad on your energy bill to use it like that anyway.

I like your avatar - great movie!

If you are talking about a Wrought Iron or similar, I think you might need that chiller for best results during the summer.

Thanks guys. Since there have been a few collected lately the Prognathodes aya have sparked my interest and were the reason I posted. I've always been a fan of declivis and tinkerii too.

I'm more than likely not going to buy a chiller for multiple reasons. If the fish can't weather a few months of 76-77 in good health I'll just put the idea on my back burner for now.

@Chris... In another life I could have been Kikuchiyo :)
