Temp spike damage

Hey guys/gals
Long story short I had a temp spike to about 84.5 degrees a few weeks ago and this is the likely cause of some stn going on on some colonies. Other colonies are not affected. Softies and Lps not affected . I got the temps under control and now am keeping it between 78-80. How long should I expect the stn to continue and is there any suggestions you recommend to avoid stn to continue consuming the sps? Basically is there anything I can do at this point ?

Just sit and wait.

My buddy has been going through an STN spout and when it would happen, he would bring the corals over to my tank. They would continue to STN for a few days in my tank before recovering, but took a while to obtain the lost tissue back.

It's not fun, but as long as you are providing the right parameters, they should slowly recover.

Anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months depending on the coral and how stressed it was. I've had some take up to 4-6 months to completely recover from a mishap, while some bounce back in a matter of weeks. Just depends but nothing you can do other than wait it out.

So if I see stn happening slowly now I should just wait it out? I checked all my numbers and everything is fine .

Exactly. Patience is a virtue with this. Maintain the parameters and they should begin to thrive again!

+1 for patience. I've had some acros take 3-4 weeks from a nasty insult (alk swing), to show damage and then weeks to months to recover if at all. It can be frustrating, as I had recognized and corrected the alk issue before the acros exhibited problems,, but it was too late as the damage was already done.
