Temperature reading dilema

I agree with what someone else suggested: Try them both in a known temperature of water. Like a LFS that has a temp and see which one matches the LFS readings.

You may want to take some ice water and put the coralife temp probe in it. It should read 0C/32F.

Then add the offset from 0 to the coralife thermometer and compare that reading to the AC temp probe and adjust its offset in the controller if necessary.

You know I did not think of that. I use that method for other thermometers. So I tried it and added in a glass/mercury as well. Now I really am confused! The Coralife reads 34.8, AC Jr. 46.7, and 38 for the glass thermo. Now talk about differences. Any thoughts? Talk about all variables and no constants. Unfortunately I don't have any LFS that are of quality. So I am at a loss currently.

The AC3 pro doesn't go to 0C/32F (I don't think the jr does either) and it is not surprising to see variance between the glass and coralife. I have 2 coralife of the identical model and they do not match.

Because you know that Ice water will be very close the 0C, just pick the coralife or glass one to use for calibration. Record the offset from expected and then with them all in the tank, compare the 3 thermometers. You can adjust the offset of the AC temp probe to match expected values.
