Tempered or not

I have a 6 ft long, 125 gal tank I got in a trade. I am currently using it for freshwater. Of course, now I have the reef bug. This is a older tank and I could find no mfg marks. Being that it is 1/2 inch glass, can I assume that at least the sides are not tempered? My other question is the center brace. The brace is 1/2 inch glass and about 14 inches wide. I figure I can remove it, cut it down to about 4 inches and reinstall. Sound reasonable?

Use two polarizing lenses one on each side of the glass. If it's tempered you can see the stress patterns in the glass caused by the tempering process. Try it on the side window of your car to see for sure what you're looking for.

I think oceanic uses the glass center brace.
They typically put their stickers under the top rim on the inside.
Also the trim on the oceanic is typically higher quality and beveled where the all-glass and other cheaper brands just use flat trim with sharp edges and it's not as thick usually.

Both of my Oceanic tanks have their logo (Oceanic Sysytems Inc.)
embossed in gold on the lower right plastic frame when looking at the front of the tank. Mine never had "stickers". I also used to have another Oceanic 75 in the "granite" finish that was labeled the same way, it had a plastic brace.
