tempertare problems

My tank has been getting too warm lately and I'm starting to get a little concerned. Does anyone know anyone trying to sell a chiller? I know they are expensive new and am trying to cool a 55 gallon.

Alright, I am going to eat a little crow here and admit to playing with a fan and evaporative cooling. Try it first. My chiller was running non stop and thought it was going to burn up. I threw a fan in the stand and it didn't come on for a week. I was really impressed by how much is does help.

Watch......next week I will be playing with T5s.........nahhhhh!!!

O.K I will. I have a large fan as of today blowing across the top of the tank. i have 2 mh's and 4 t5's. It's open top so I think the fan will help. I'm going to check my temperature gauge tomorrow as well as my heater. My temp was reading 87 when I got home today. :(

point it across the water surface to get the best efect. When I moved mine earlier this week, it made a big difference.

But if your rolling in money and its burning a hole in your pocket, I think chillers are a piece of equipment that is required.

Thanks dots. I unplugged my heater over the weekend and have a fan blowing across the surface. It has kept my tank at 80 degrees instead of the 88 it was reading that day! I'm going to swap the heater with my old one and see what happens. I want to make sure the thermostat wan't pinned on the one I'm using!
