Anyone ever notice or have experience with this type of temporary coloration of their Melichthys indicus (Indian black trigger). It's almost glowing yellow? And the tail is a pale black with a dark black rim, and then the white trim. I know some fish like wrasse change colors during their terminal phase but I've never noticed it like this in a trigger.

Agreed. However, I've never seen it so dramatic yet. He almost looked yellow and his tail was drastically different. I almost thought my wife bought me a new fish without telling me when I walked by the tank. Lol

He's eating and acting normal right? Mine absolutely does that, changes colors drastically as his mood changes..

One of the most beautiful and under appreciated fish. It turns olive and near yellow on the top when he is in the mood. There is nothing wrong with ur awesome trigger.

Agreed, one of my favorite fish. Sometimes he will be jet black and the back half of him, his scales will look almost checker board black and white. As if the edges of each scale highlights in white. I'm amazed as to how many variations in color it can display.

Yup, that's the guy. Seriously under rated fish in terms of visual appeal. The photos and videos don't do them justice.
