Temporary coral mounting

When I buy a new coral, I usually don't know where I want to place it permanantly, plus I want to make sure it's happy in a particular spot. My problem is that my turbo snails act as the proverbial bull in the china shop and often knock the corals over.

Do you know of anything with the consistency of putty that will remain soft and hold the coral in place temporarily without hardening like epoxy putty? If not, any other suggestions?

depending on the type of coral...try a rubber band at the base....put a toothpick on either side...NOT through...and then the rubber band around the toothpicks and over the rock...should stay
