Test Kit question

OK its now time to purchase my test kit. I was on Dr Fosters and see so many test kits. Read quite a few posts from the forum here. Here comes the question... Which test kit to buy?

I first have to ask myself "what will I be testing for" Seen different posts were certain members test for this and other members don't.

So fellow members what do you all test for in your tanks? That will help guide me to the correct testing equipment to buy.

Thanks.... Dave

pH, Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, Alk are all good to have. When setting up your tank you might want to monitor ammonia, nitrate, and nitrate through the first cycle. If you plan to do that then you can get a cheap kit because you may do daily or semi-weekly tests over the course of a month.

I also test for calcium and phosphate once in a while and plan to get a Mg test kit with my next order.

I just did a full set of tests today and when I logged the results I noticed the last time I did a fell set of test was December:lol:

ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, alk, calcium, and mag. i would suggest buying the salifert alk, calcium, and mag. most of the other brands just arent very reliable when it comes to those tests!
