Test Kits

I'm just wondering how can my alk different by like 3.xx??

And ca is off by 100ppm? Wow feel like I just wasted $50

With the Alk becareful no bubbles and glass is clean. I usually wipe it down with cloth before I put it in on C1 and C2 etc. The only times I have gotten bad readings is when something is in the water and the lights sensor I guess gets confused.

Hanna checkers for Calcium and Alk are not the best, their error percentage is high. Hanna only has a good PO4 checker.

Glad i seen this thread, i was looking into buy the Hanna for CAL and ALK. Guess I will give Sailfert a try.

Currently i am using Red Sea for the three, but some of the colors can be hard to read.

The colors with the salifert aren't that much better, pretty much the same. Salifert on the Calcium and magnesium did the slight multiple color change also.

I use Hanna for P04,
API for cal, alk
Salifert for nitrate

After buying my hanna for PO4 I read in the instructions that it has .04+- accuracy. I have tested the same water twice with both test bottle provided and get two different results in the .04 field of error. So I love my hanna but I always keep this in mind. For cal API, I have tested alk with salifert and api and get the same results. Red sea for Mag

Luis from strictly fish recently told me he is bringing in a machine from Continuum Aquatics that is going to be able measure all parameters from your water. I wonder how accurate it will be.
