Well with the next meeting being all about testing. and I am in the market for a new test kit. anyone have an suggestions on where and what kit to buy?

Thanks

2x for salifert. They're not as "simple" as the other test kit brands, but they're worth the effort, because they're supposed to be infinitely more reliable.

Also be sure to pick up a refractometer too. Best deal in SoFL that I've ever seen is reeflife, $39.99. You can't even get that from the online dealers.

I Highly recommend these two:
1. Salifert (The Best money can buy)
2. API - Aquarium Pharmaceuticals ( Very accurate too great alternative to Salifert)

Definitely don't buy:
Red Sea Test kits man I had those, they were always inaccurate.

Reeflife and Ecoreef and coral sea pets carry Salifert, i also herd that the store that you guys are having the meeting this Saturday carries them also

Does anyone know what the shelf life on these kits are? I tested my Calcium and it showed up as 180ppm. I dose Kalk every night and PH, temp are stable. Either there is something wrong with my water or the test kit has gone bad.

Salifert kits have the exp. sticker on the box.

I checked last night but there is no exp. date. This batch is over a year old. Maybe close to two. Im really hoping the test kit is bad. I will probably take a sample of water to the LFS for a checkup.

Geez, all these hands up for Saliferts almost got me excited.

Then I realized how easy and accurate mine were. Sorry.

I'm sticking with ELOS.

The following is a "copy and paste" from the ELOS forum here on RC:

No need to be be sorry but rather could you explain the reason why you think they are better, Are they titration technique as well? do they have less steps? are they cheaper? are they more accurate?
Could you post the intructions so we can see the steps say of the Calcium test kit?
