Test Reading For CopperSafe?

I have been using the CopperSafe meds. in my QT tank. I have been using it following the direction for use( 1 tsp (5ml) per 4 gallons of water). So whenever I did water changes I added the coppersafe back in accordingly to what I took out. I then have since bought a Salifert Copper Test Kit. My copper was reading in between 0.50 to 1.0. So now I have been monitoring the level after water changes with no adding copper and the reading seems to be about the same. Should I leave the copper adding out from water changes and monitor the reading or should I add copper reguardless and follow the direction on the bottle? Also what should the reading be on CopperSafe with this test kit. Thanks

I am treating with Coppersafe as well. This is my first time using the product but I have done some research. Since Coppersafe is "Chelated" copper, it requires 1.5-2.0ppm to be effective. I have added more than the recommended amount in order to achieve this level and the fish seem fine. I also have some rock for hiding spots and crushed coral from my DT to help seed my quarantine. I have read that those 2 things may soak up some of the copper so my advice would be to maintain the recommended levels by daily testing and keeping a good eye on things.

The Salifert copper test kit does not accurately test Coppersafe. I confirmed this a week or so ago with Coppersafe's customer support. I was told that a chelated or total copper test kit is required to measure CopperSafe. So I ended up going with the API copper test kit. It's a little hard to read, but it seems to be widely available and I needed it now.

Salifert copper test kit works great with Cupramine but if you've already started with Coppersafe I wouldn't switch now.

Just to reiterate this I guess but my experience seems to be the same here. I have a salifert kit and Mardel Coppersafe. The hospital tank is 5.5 gallons Aqueon, no sand, no live rock just PVC pipe and a sponge bob cave with vinyl/plastic decorations.

The directions state to dose 5ml per 4 gallons. I put in 5 gallons of water exactly into the tank. I put in 6ml of copper safe measured exactly.

This gave me a reading of .5 on the Salifert kit. I don't believe this is right so I'm going to order the API kit to confirm.

Using the API kit, I see a reading of 1.0 ppm. This was with dosing the recommended 1.25ml per gallon.

I believe the therapeutic level is supposed to be 1.5ppm to 2.0ppm.

+1 I used Coppersafe recently on some wrasses, and API test kit is what I used as well. 1.5-2.0ppm is the range.
