Testing for iodine

I am currently cycling my tank and I am trying to test for iodine. Is it possible to get an accurate reading. I am unable to get a good reading with my test kit do to the fact that my nitrite level is above 5.0

I do not know if nitrite interferes with iodine kits, but I wouldn't worry about iodine yet. I don't recommend adding it anyway.

You're welcome.

Assuming the kit is either from Seachem or Salifert, I'd suggest posting in their forums here at RC and asking if elevated nitrite will impact their iodine test kit results.
