Testing new lights and holy smokes, mass hatching?

I got home from work at 8:30PM and was happy to see that my 30" Orbit 2x65 light had arrived. My tank was crystal clear at the time and I set the light up on top of the tank. 5 minutes after turning it on, I noticed these white specks floating around. I thought I dropped a piece of toilet paper in the tank and the skimmer chopped it up. 2 minutes later the white specks were ALL OVER THE PLACE and when I looked closely, they resembled little shrimp? Did this new light (it's way more intense than my previous) trigger some mass hatching?

I recall seeing these little dots on the surface floating around for the past week but dismissed them as air bubbles. Perhaps they were eggs? Anyway, my clown seems really happy and has been picking them off. Does anyone have any info? Here is a pic I just took.

Hard to tell from the pic (so far away) if they are some form of snail, slug, or if they are just copepods. Did they appear to have shells? But no your lights did not hatch anything, or even assist. Did you have your regular lights turned off for a longer period of time today? They usually only come out in the dark. Also maybe the bright lighting allowed you to view better.

They appear to be just tiny shrimp. My original lights were on when I arrived and went off for a minute when I plugged in the new lights. I'm confident that they were NOT floating around prior to the new light. Here are more pics:

If they're swimming in the water column, I'd guess nocturnal mysid shrimp that somehow got confused by the light.

Yep, they are flapping around in the water column. I introduced 2 pieces of live rock about 10lbs each from a neighbors aquarium last thursday and maybe those mysid shrimp eggs hitchhiked. Also, the mysid shrimp pics on Google Images look exactly like what I have. I'm 8 months into this new tank and have never seen any shrimp in it until now.

Yup, you've got mysis! Friends with live rock and corals and good stuff like that are just invaluable, aren't they? :)
