Testing pH durring Hyposalinity

How do you measure pH during hyposalinity treatments? Your salinity is very different than normal content so I'd be a little skeptical about the results from saltwater pH tests and yet your not really fresh water so using a fresh water kit doesn't seem applicable either. Are there some brands of pH tests that work for both fresh and salt?

Maybe this is a better question for the chemistry forum?

I too have had trouble maintaining a high pH. Using a saltwater test, it is chronically around 7.8. In the past, I had not aeraeted well, and so that could have contributed to a buildup of CO2. Any other thoughts out there?

Remember that hypo tanks use less "salt"and that the commercial salt includes additives to produce the proper amt of alkalinity to support PH. As such .. its a good idea to add a bit of alk supplement (baking soda works fine) to help stabilize PH in a Hypo tank.

Hope this helps.
