Tetra Aquarium Kit?

You are better off just getting a 5 gallon tank and buying better lights. You won't use any of the stuff in the kit, or if you do; you will realize later down the road that it isn't necessary. Power filters are only good for water movement and a place to put carbon. The lights really can't grow anything as well.

I need to open the box up, but as long as there's a screw-in socket I was going to put a coralife bulb in:idea:. My idea was get a cheaper kit and slowly up grade as I had need/want and $$$. I've been looking, but I haven't seen any lights for under $45....am I missing something?

It might work, but as stated about the only thing you will use from that kit will be the tank, and MAYBE the hood, but it would have to be modified. It likely is either a straight tube t8/t12 flourescent, and you would have to modify the hood at the very least. That said, you might be able to put in 2~30 PC's, which would be pretty good lighting for that tank IMO.

^yeah. The other thing I'm wondering about is, could the hood be spray painted? If I could make that work and add molding like Agu did, then I'd end up with a really nice looking tank for pretty cheap.
