TFP 30% coupon

today during lunch i went to TFP to use my 30% coupon for salt, which i have done many times. The guy in the back said yes i can use it, however the girl at the register said they are not accepting coupons for salt anymore. ***. I spoke to someone else explaining this is the entire reason i went to TFP on a thursday as it was the only thing in my cart. They did honor my 30%off coupon but said that salt will no longer be available to purchase with ANY coupons.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

That's odd. I'm looking at a coupon right now that says "20% off any one reef supply". You'd think salt would be included in that. Now I know that it's not the 30% one. I used that for a fish...but still.

can you use the 30% coupon on tanks

nope.

This month there are 3 coupons
30% off pet item (which i used for salt, and always have), dont have the coupon since they took it so i cant read what it says exactly.
20% off one reef item
30% off fish/pet

as i mentioned while buying my salt they didnt want to accept the 30% pet item, saying NO coupons for salt anymore. This is a new policy they started last monday. Next month the coupons will all say 'no salt' or something similar.

I've never had a problem with them taking it off of anything. I have seen once where it was not valid on tanks though.
Used mine this month for a mag float 500

I was there Friday and tried to use my 20% "reeef supply" coupon for salt. I was told they will no longer accept a coupon for salt.
I asked what they considered a "reef supply?" The reply was any fish supply.

It sucks there aren't many other options for salt in my area besides them so I have no choice but keep getting my salt there. I wonder why they decided to do this

Probably losing money on salt since it is the one constant we all need.
It is still cheaper to buy salt there than just about any place else.

Until the coupons say that they can't be used for salt, I think that they should honor them. Its just wrong to institute a change like this mid-way through a coupon, and they are missing a great opportunity to inform people of an upcoming change, instead of sc$%&ing them over once they are already there.

there is a place in wyomissing pa the guy has instant ocean box for 35 and reef for 45 makes 200 gal its on sale right now the normal price is 42 for the reg and 52 for reef

Well since I am 90 mins west of TFP, I am not going to drive another 30 miles just to save $4. Now if I am going to look for livestock it's a different story.

I am done with them!

I am with you on that... Also the changing the terms on a coupon after they are sent out is illegal. That practice falls into the bait and switch category. If my next set of coupons would not be printed to exclude salt, it could be interesting. I am due for another bucket of salt.

I'm sure they will honer them untill the next set of coupons are mailed out. You still can't beat the 30% off on the other goods in the store.

We at TFP, are very sorry for all of the confusion that has been caused, due to the changes that were made to our store flyer. The exclusions to the coupons were not printed on the flyer, they simply said "See store for details", this was a change made to save space for other information on the flyer. In hindsight this has proven to be a bad decision, and starting with the February flyer, all exclusions to the coupons will once again be printed on the flyer. Again, we are sorry for all the confusion, and problems that this caused all our loyal customers.

To address the salt issue, the decision to exclude salt from the coupons was made at the time that the flyers were mailed, and was included in the list of excluded items that was available at the registers in the retail store. We realize that this is an unpopular decision, but it was one that we had to make, our everyday prices on salt are at a very low margin, we simply could no longer include the salt in the coupon offer.

We have decided that we will honor the coupon for salt purchases on the current coupon that expires on 1/28/2010, given all of the problems that not printing the exclusions on the flyers has caused. Once the February coupon in effect, with the exclusions printed on the flyer, this offer will no longer be extended.

Sincerely,

Dave.
