what is a kreisal? chris is they have babys you are more then welcome to some. it looks like two of the are staying together so i am crossing my fingers. they are all eating cyclopps eeze though. the gobies i got are eating flake now.

Seahorse babies come in two flavors: benthic and pelagic. Benthic ones can "hitch" right away at birth to whatever is in the tank they can wrap the tail around, but pelagic ones need to be free-floating for some time. Benthic fry are eaiser to keep, and you can put them in a small tank with a sponge filter and some plastic plants to hitch on, and if they are large enough to eat baby brine shrimp you're good to go. The pelagic fry are harder because they kind of float to the top, where they can get air bubbles, and they don't do very well. A kreisal is a special round tank that allows the water to circulate up, around, and down continuously, which keeps the babies suspended without letting them get stuck. There are all kinds of ways to make DIY kreisals with old fashioned fishbowls, but a premade one is easier.

Kelloggi's are pelagic, so the fry will be tough to raise without a kreisal.

My wife wants to change our 20 G Fresh Water Hex to be a seahorse tank but it seems like alot of work and with the reef I am already busy :)

You guys are all very welcome. I'd love to see more pics if you got 'em. Especially of that chrysurus and that golden. i'm debating on whether to throw the fish in the main tank...two days is enough to qt right????

No sign of the newbies since I put them in the tank. I'm going to try to coax them out with some cyclop-eeze in a few minutes.

my fish went in ;) I have yet to see my yasha hase goby and he's the guy i looked forward to most! but no carcas yet either so, he's probably just hiding somewhere, he let himself out of the specimen cup two nights ago.

Brad, I tried two Yasha, very shy buggars.
All my girls are in. Sunburst Anthias is only one hiding. everyone is eating Cyclops AND Flakes! wow. I donot use QT, but thats my choice, & certainly donot encourage others to follow.

Both mine didnt make it either. :(

sorry to hear that guys. so far all my guys are eating everything I throw i the tank frozen foods, flakes. pelletes & cyclops. All three Sunset Anthias are now schooling with the rest of the Anthias, the Sunburst is out & about, Watanabe angel is a model citizen, not even picling on rock, the Swallow tail angel although smaller than what I expected seems to be adjusting well, the clam & zoos has opened up & seem to color nicely.hoping for the best....

Weird! Warrens fish are doing good too although not eating yet. I found a carcass today but no clue what it was :(
