Thanksgiving Questions...

COMAS Rocks!
I had best ask before family shows up thursday and does something stupid....is turkey bad for fish?
(reason I'm asking is I grew up with lot's of brothers and remember the stupid things we've done to the dogs and cats growing up, I'm just trying to prepare for "the family")

I'm planning on siblings that may Intentionally put turkey in the tank. I may be forced to put a deadbolt on the fish room just to keep em out. Lets just say that If I tell em not too, that's going to just persuade them to ignore me further. Gotta love having brothers. (funny, it's the older brothers that i'm worried about, not the younger 12 year old) I could go into details on my older brother austin trying to teach my guinea pig to swim when I was younger, but you guys get the idea. There trouble, love em to death, but there trouble.

that may sound funny Travis, but my shotgun is only a few steps away from the fish room. :D
maybe I could just get rubbe bullets. Muah ha ha!

My friend's little brother put a chunk of blue play-doh in with his white goldfish.... I can honestly say I have seen bright blue goldfish! hmmm..... Kinda makes one curious.... blue diamond goby? ;-)

You can always give your fish shotguns instead....

OMG!!!! LOL, that's so funny!

"hey you, yeah ugly!, go get us some mysis right now or the dog gets one between the eyes!"

Ok. Now this is serious...as a heart attack. I once killed fish with a turkey. I had watched Food TV. They shoulda said "don't try this at home," but no, I had to try it! The plan was, you wrap the turkey in bacon (the heart attack part) then bake it....sort of a self basting in fat kinda thing.

I put the oven on high just like they said to brown the bacon only I forgot about it while doing something important like researching the mating habits of Tanganyika cichlids.

The sound of the smoke alarm brought me back to reality. Meanwhile I had several fish in the adjoining room go belly up. So yes Thanksgiving can kill. Be careful. Be very very careful.

I think some sort of electrical deterrent is called for with the brothers....

Bacon? never heard that one before lol. The secret to a juicey turkey is to cook it breast side down in real butter. It may not be pretty, but pretty turkey isn't the object now is it? lol You can flip it over and let it brown a few minutes if the color matters to you.

My wife found this out by accident. Man does it makea different. We can't wait for Thursday to try again!

The breast down is how I usually do a turkey but I wanted to expand my cooking experiences and tried the bacon. I really did kill fish.

I'm definitely sorry to hear you lost fish though. Did you save the turkey? I wonder if we should stuff the body cavity with bacon..... hmm.... After all, I don't have a computer at home to get lost in. :)

You could separate the skin from the breast and put bacon in there i suppose. I always stuff that with slices of onions and apples, with a ton of butter mmmmmmmmmmm. Sad thing is i don't get turkey this year. The Wife is working, and i'm on grampa duty all weekend. I could throw down on the turkey day spread, but it's just me and a 1 year old, so i opted for the turkey tv dinner lol. Being the new nurse on the block, she also has the privilage of working christmas this year too.

Been there done that. Her day will come but it is a bummer not to be with family on holidays. Of course it is worse for the patients in the hosp.

I'll most likely be enjoying Denny's fabulous all american slam or some such similiar for thanksgiving. If I tried a turkey , everyone would go belly up!

For all of you that are hoping for that warmer than average winter, it SNOWED here in central Florida last night. Nothing that actually hit the ground, but it did snow for over an hour last night. Break out the parkas and the sleds, it's bound to be a cold one this year lol.
