"Thanksgiving" Tank Crash

Don't you just love when you give instructions to someone on how to take care of your tank ie. just put food in the tank and check the temperature(yup... 2 things..that's all) and they still can't do it right so you come home after a measly 4 day trip to a tank crash??

The temp dropped to 57 freakin degrees after a heater malfunction and said "friend" never actually checked the tank. I don't think I've ever been so heartbroken about something so replaceable. Thanksgiving is a lie.

:headwally:

Sorry for the loss. And your feelings of loss are understandable because an ecosystem (even a small one in a tank) is not truly 'replaceable'. Even if you rebuild it will never be quite the same...corals will grow differently then previou ones, fish will have differing personalities, etc. You will be building new ecosystem similar but still different then the old one.

Sorry never a good thing to have to go though. I was away from my tank for 4 days and I just let it go, I don't really trust anyone and my fish are fine with out food for a few days. I always keep 2 heaters in my tank just in case one decides not to work. Good luck with the rebuild!

Yeah I have a controller for this exact reason. If something happens while I am on a trip or even at work all day the controller is programmed to take full control over lighting and temp control. I need to get a second PC4 strip so I can integrate in my ATO and pumps for even more fail safes.

Sucks, though most of us can understand your pain, crashes are a part of this hobbie ( like drag racing) you just try not to control the damage when it happens...
