Just like the title says its Thanksgiving week sales time. Who got a deal? What did you get?

Lots of local and online stores are having sales.

Couldn't pass up the chance to add to my Apex system - conductivity mod and probe and leak detection mod and probe.
Now waiting for my husband to see the PayPal confirmation email.......ouch!

I got a couple aquaticLife Halo LED's for my planted tank. The price was marked down for black Friday and I had an additional email coupon, SCORE! Wasn't expecting the coupon to work too, but it did so I had to get it :). Got both LED's and the mounting arms with tax for less than the next closest competitor was selling just the lights on sale for without the tax :).

LOL, Mark, miss the LFS runs?

Notice a few stores have extended their sales, I saw the line at Aquarium Depot, got my tub of hornworms and vowed to return when less crazy. Glad I waited, but I wonder if there will be much left.

Got a few more items at DrsF&S and an order in for BRS on a few items.

I wasn't impressed with the online sales. I did get some radium bulbs for 67 bucks.

We took the kids to cut a Xmas tree yesterday and found a great place that even had a few inches of snow. It was awesome.

Happy holidays everyone.

Yeah, most stuff I wasn't interested in and was looking around at the LFS to see if I could get local before I got a few more things yesterday online.

OK, advanced warning online vendor vent (major vendor that I will leave unnamed, quit reading here or you have been warned, LOL)

The thing is on many websites if you want to compare final prices you have to put things in your cart and often go to the point of just confirming the order to see what the things total cost will be.

I emptied out my shopping cart after seeing the price was considerably higher than the vendor I went with and left it at that, well now I keep getting emails with titles "You forgot how much you want to buy this!" "We know aquarium owners sometimes get sidetracked. Perhaps you had to feed your fish or perform a water change. No biggie!

This is just a friendly reminder that we saved the awesome aquarium gear you were considering in your shopping cart right where you left it..."
I emptied my cart.

and... "Did you forget something?"...
"Thank you for visiting --.

We noticed that you were close to placing an order, but did not checkout.

We just thought we'd follow up to see if there was anything we could do to help!

If you experienced a problem with our site during checkout or simply have questions about the products you were considering, please reply with any questions and/or comments so we can lend a hand.

If you're ready to complete your order, you may do so in just a few short minutes by visiting your shopping cart (we saved the items in your cart, just in case!)."

again I EMPTIED MY SHOPPING CART

I even double checked and made sure my cart was empty.

Ugh these high pressure sales tactics and tracking are a total turn off, let alone creepy. I will decide when I want to complete an order, the total price from that vendor was too high after all the discounts I had from the one I went with, so I don't need to be badgered, or reminded, end of story. Just being tracked like this for window shopping is CREEPY, CREEPY, CREEPY. This is the first time an on-line store has sent me emails this (besides ebay with their we thought you might like this...) I know many sites track browsing habits, which I think is creepy in itself, letting me know what I've looked at is major CREEPY.

I may just remove myself from their mailing list :blown:

OK, I just replied how I felt to their customer support lead stating WHY I didn't complete the order. How offensive is it to be told I didn't complete my order because I was "forgetful" or "sidetracked" Ugh.

(on a side note, I have had good customer service from this vendor in the past when I purchased from them years ago, this is just way over the top)

We have had great experiece with this kind of shopping online this weekend. We had a bunch of stuff in the shopping cart, but we decided to wait so that we could really think over our purchase before committing. (we also had some family events out of town that we had to attend to).

We came back to an email from the online retailer that said: "hey you have all this awesome stuff in your cart, did you forget? Here's a discount coupon code for you if it will encourage you to complete the order!"

We totally didn't mean for it to work this way, but it was pretty awesome that it did.

I'm done with my major equipment expenses, but I did pick up a Kessil Spectra Controller for $89. Hopefully this will help me better manage my coral growth.
