Visited Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on New Year's day and saw this. Foaming in all its glory.

Whoa. Happy to not be the guy responsible for cleaning that regularly!

Thanks Yuri. Good eye spotting and recognizing that.

I wonder if their water system is one giant interconnected supply? While that would simplify filtration and chemical maintenance, it would allow disease in any display to be transmitted to every other display.

Anyone remember the club visit to the California Academy of Sciences? We got to go "back stage" to see items that weren't on display to the public. I remember their water mixing setup. A giant concrete mixing well with a hole in the ceiling through which large industrial sacks of ingredients were added. Huge "ingredient list" on the wall to refer to when mixing up new water.

I've toured the CAS twice. Looks just like my setup at home, just slightly LARGER. ;)
IIRC they have switched over to IO salt instead of mixing it all from scratch. When they do a water change, the old water is held to release into sewer system over several days to not overwhelm the system with saltwater.

Hey John. I can see where salt mix would be easier for whomever is responsible for water changes than combining their many ingredient recipe. Makes sense that they would release the old water incrementally.
