The bar over the Oceanic is it a issue?

I want to buy a 125 or 135 but I heard this bar is 18 inches wide!! Is this a issue with lighting? Does the light go threw it in a way that it helpe the coral below? Can you have a light right over it? Does it get all dirty with salt and heat from the liight? Also is it Glass?

The center brace on the Oceanic is glass at least on my 120g it is. This should not be of any big concern. What kind of corals were you thining of placing under that spot?

The All-Glass and Perfecto have a plastic center brace.

A newbie myself - but I think Oceanic's 105/120 (and higher?) have no center brace now as they have gone to a thikcer (3/4") glass - means the tank is more expensive and heavy though.

If there is a bracket - the 18" would be front to back; the 'width' is an inch or two and I believe made of glass.

IM not sure what I would put under it. But when buying a tank I dont want to be limited. The AGA has 2 3inch plastice braces but I have to Oceanics would love to stay with it.

My 4 year old Oceanic 105 RR has a glass center brace 12 inches wide. The aquarium walls are 1/2" thick. I don't know if Oceanic has changed these specs. Their web page is lame. The top of the glass brace does require periodic cleaning from salt creep. Light penetration doesn't seem to be an issue.

What is the best way of cleaning that without getting stuff in the tank

Probably paper towels and a bit of water. If its really caked on, you can use vinegar.

Both are good companies. The AGA tanks will have a black plastic center brace (light will definitely go around it and not through it).

Perfecto tanks are very good as well.
