im about to make my first aquarium it will be a 17 x 17 x 16 inches cube in 1/4" glass my question is for what i see in the forum and you tube there two methods to do the assembly one all the panel over the bottom and the other all the panel around the bottom ,which one is the more safe and easy to do? what silicon to use silicon 1 of GE or rvt 100 series?any other tip will be appreciate.

im not sure of the assembly procedure but I do know for certain that you DO NOT use GE silicone 1 for putting a tank together. Silicone 1 is more of a sealant, not an adhesive. the RTV series is the way to go.

well i did not found a rtv so i put the tank with a silicon adhesive so i let it cure and right know i fill it with water and have no leaks so far so good .

Try finding some SCS1200 then. Whether or not the silicone you did use will hold, is an unknown. If it is a consumer grade anything, it may or may not. If it is a Dow Corning 732, 735, or 999A, for that small of a tank it will may hold. The only question that remains is how did you assemble it, i.e. what clamps did you use, what was your silicone application technique, etc.

The silicones I mentioned above are usually available through Grainger.com.

sounds like you may have filled it with water right away, you need to allow the silicone to cure for atleast a week to prevent any harmful chems from getting into your tank

It's all about what you like

Frame or no frame
Rimless or not
Plexiglas or glass

There will be a different preferred method for each type of tank

And likely argument about the best method for each style in addition

If you decide to get the real stuff, this is it. At the best price that I have found on the internet.
