the best software for aquarium maintenance

I know there a few reefers out there that are using software to document and keep track of changes/tests for the aquarium....

if any one has any suggestions or one that they use and like i would be most grate-ful.

I second the Exel thing or any other spreadsheet program like it. It's easy to oragnize info, make graphs if needed to notice trends, post comments attached to certain values if something has happend or you change some hardware.

I'm sure there are other software out there, but most prople have it and it works fine.

I used ReefCon2000 for a few years to keep up with maintenance. It worked well but I got in the habit of doing regularly scheduled maintenance and got out of the habit of logging it.

Best thing about it is its free!

if you don't have a controller, then ReffCon is the way to go.

Very easy to use and it's free.

this is what i was going for... i figured there was software that had all the tests listed already and all you had to do is log the results. Excel is what i was going to use and after reading up on it - it still has unlimited possibilities.

there are some people that slack on maintance, started to log and got tired of it and those who keep up with the logs to aid in trouble shooting.

this is great info for i was wondering if it was worthing messing with or if the many programs dedicated to the hobby make it much easier.

I use MS Word. I have a weekly and monthly template with fill in the blank places for test results and have all tasks defined. I then copy it from week to week. Works fine. I save each weeks output so there is historical tracking if needed.

If you got the Aquatronica controller, Aquastats is the answer. Top draw free product with on line help from the author. Check it out.

At one time was using the log from here http://www.craigcentral.com/tankdata.asp for both chemistry and events,. Still using it to record events (have history of bulb changes, bought fish, etc going back to 2002) but when I started my Ca reactor I just made up a table with the parameters I wanted in Excel, printed a bunch of pages and just keep them is a DuoTang type folder in the fish room.

Find it's quick to enter and review my levels, don't have to go upstairs, wait for the computer to turn on or get the kid off it....

Call of Duty 4. After I get done sucking scum out of the tank and doing all that technical stuff, nothing makes me relax like shooting a few terrorists with the G3.

vi, grep, awk, and if i'm feeling quite randy.. gnuplot.

I used ReefCon2000 for a few years to keep up with maintenance.

ack! what kind of sick, sick developer must you be to include expenses in reefkeeping software?

Excel here.
I tried the free available ones and they are bloated for my needs.
I don't care too much about where I bought a fish and for how much.
But trending/graphing test results is handy and excel does only what I tell it to.
