the best vortech mode for sps

What do you think the best mode is in your experience? Also include if you think the slave should be in sync or anti-sync. Right now I like reefcrest mode, but I'm not sure if I should sync or anti when I get another mp40w.

I have 4 sync in reefcrest mode running at 100%. I like this better. I use to have them on long pulse(pink) 2 on anti-sync. Better flow and pump doesn't get as hot.

I run in reefcrest, independent, at 100%.

2 MP40W on a 80g with sand.

I like the randomness of them both doing their own thing. And anything but 100% is a waste.

Damn I guess I am wasting mine. pics of tank with sand at 100%

Reefcrest mode for me at 80%. I had trouble keeping the sand down in my 58 gallon tank at 100%.

I have 4. I run 2 @ reef crest mode 100% & 2 at short pulse mode @ 100%.

My thoughts are that this will make a strong, but very random flow.

Reefcrest 100%. Sometimes I switch from sync to anti sync just to change things up a bit.

MP40W- Reefcrest 80%(water will spill over if I run 100%)
MP20- Lagoon 100%

I sometimes run the MP40W is Lagoon but I like Reefcrest mode as it produce the most random flow, especially when it slows down and rapidly ramps up.

Depends upon your rock structure IMO. The way my rocks are aligned with the position of my 3 vortechs, I run them on a long pulse mode, and I get water flowing through the center structures one direction, then around the sides of the tank, then it reverses every 30 seconds or so.

Once every couple of months I switch it up. Seems to get detritis out that I didnt even know I had.
Did reefcrest anti sync at first. Then I did short pule antisync. Then back to reefcrest/anti sync and Now I am at long pulse antisync.
Will probably go back to reefcrest/antisync soon.

i have a 120 and placed both my 40's on one side of the aquarium. one is center 3" below water line, the other 4" from front 6" below water line. top center is set at 100% lagoon and lower front at 100% reefcrest.

great random flow throughout tank. no sand storms.
