the big move

After 5 wonderful years in the US, and overcoming many challenges to remain in the country, my wife and Ihave purchased a house in New Brunswick. I sure am going to miss having such an active reef club with such enthusiastic members.

It's been absolutely amazing to see the growth and sense of community that has grown within SWAM. The entire committee, members, and especially Denise have really done something special here. It's going to be a very difficult move for me to move back up in to reef solitary. I never knew the joy of meeting of fish geeks until I lived in Maine. :)

I'll still be making the trip to see Barry though :) And other meets as well.

New Brunswich isn't that far from Maine. Maybe you could travel alittle to make a meet or 2? Plus ya know they have the internet in Canada too!
OH and if you can help it, try not to spend to much time in Houlton. That little town ticks me off:) IMO
Best of luck!

Rob, So sorry to hear you are moving. You have been a great resource to our little club. Whenever we needed the technical side explained you did it so well! I plan to still pick your brain on occasion so make sure to keep in touch on ReefCentral. Good luck with the move. See you at Barry's meet in Oct. Sue

We will surely miss your input, but I know you spend a lot of time on the computer so you will still be in touch..

Maybe once you get established and meet some reefers up that way, we can arrange a frag swap, meet in Bangor, have lunch and meet our fellow addicts up that way? A frag could easily fit in a big insulated cup...;)

Hope to see you and Jen in Oct.. will be a great shopping trip for her... make sure she tells them at her interview that she needs a long weekend Oct 13 :)

I'd be happy to ferry frags for Ewan. We have family in Houlton as well that we visit- would be simple to meet at the border!

as long as you don't end up getting searched...Im not sure what the border patrol would do if they found corals in your car tring to cross the border...hmmmm Would that be a bad thing?

I have friends in Toronto and they say it's not the corals, but the live rock that they are attached to that causes them troubles. Have you ever run into that Rob?

Rob,
I'm so sorry to see you go, your insight and knowledge and help was invaluable. Whereabouts in New Brunswick are you going? Will you finally be able to have a big tank?

Thanks everyone for your support. I'm certainly going to miss Maine

Common misconception. Especially at the border :(

"Live rock" is defined as pieces of coral rock (i.e. rock that does not contain coral or in which the coral is fossilized) to which are attached many forms of microscopic or macroscopic marine life (algae, sponges, molluscs, etc.) that live on and inside the substrate rock. In general, "live rock" is not regulated by CITES, unless organisms from CITES-listed species are attached to the substrate.
This is how Tampa Bay saltwater is able to ship LR to Canada.

I've got more paperwork than you can shake a stick at. :) :)

Wynne, Jen and I have purchased our first home in Nasonworth, NB. It is 5 minutes outside of the capital city, Fredericton (my home town). It's a good sized house, with an excellent spot for my office and THE BIG TANK that I've been patiently awaiting for a long, long time. It's going to be a custom starfire tank. I've got BIG plans for that.

:D

Rob, So glad to hear you're finally going to get the big tank of your dreams. My dream tank is being delivered today. Keep us posted on your progress. Oh, btw how big is big? Mine id 265g wish I could have afforded starfire but as a peninsula would have had to have 3 sides, just too many $$. Sue

Starfire tanks are absolutely stellar for the clarity!! Wonderful that you are getting to own one.
