The Closed Loop

OK... So I've been away from the hobby for a number of years and I've just started reading threads again. I keep seeing the term "Closed Loop". I have to admit that I don't remember that term used 7+ years ago.... but I always thought of doing that to replace all the unsightly power heads and extra heat they produce.....

Anyway, as I start to re-enter the hobby (from scratch since I've sold almost everything) I will be building an in wall dream system with a dedicated "Fish Room" behind.

This is my 1st question regarding the "Closed Loop".

What's the consensus on where you pull the water from?

Back in the day I always invisioned a very low, back wall, center drilled hole with PVC T Bracket, capped PVC extensions to both sides with hundreds of drilled holes in it to suck bottom water. Returns at the bottom rear corner of each tank facing towards the front glass at an angle. The two flows crashing together in the middle of the tank, off the glass, would create a very tubulent area in the middle of the tank. Of course all plumbing would be hidden by LR.

Your thoughts and comments are appreciated.
