The Insatiable FLUVAL EDGE - My first Nano Reef

Absolutely love it!

I'd never heard of the "frag mags" -- do the corals grow irregularly since they are angled off the back wall / not facing up towards the light?

DipG your tank looks better and better, please give us some under-the-hood shots, I think I speak for everyone when I say we're all curious!

Thanks. I feel the same. The coral growth rate has also improved as the tank has aged. In regards to under-the-hood shots i will try to get some before this tank is decommissioned (which will be in a week or so). But there is not much under the hood other than the Nanocustoms fluval edge led fixture and AC20 HOB filter but i will tank some pictures.

Simply amazing. Your tank is an inspiration.
Thanks.

No not really. So i have three frag mags in my tank; one has GSP on the back wall and it grows just fine while trying to encrust on the glass. Second one has the two toadstool leathers and you can see from the pictures that they grow same way as they would grow when glued to a rock. Third one has frogspawn and hammer, these two have had the slowest growth because they way they are positioned and don't get any direct feeding ever. I am going to use the frag mags on my new tank too.

Thanks for the info! I just ordered a couple of these myself. Totally excited to get to shove more corals into my nano ha ha.

Question about installing CoolWorks Ice Probe Chiller

Question about installing CoolWorks Ice Probe Chiller

Hi!

I know this thread is old and I see that you no longer have the Fluval Edge tank but I was wondering if you could help me figure out the best way to install my CoolWorks Ice Probe Chiller. I have the 6 gallon Fluval Edge and it appears that the best place to install it is in the HOB filter. I am a little worried about it being too crowded with the filter media. Is this where you installed yours? (I can't see the pictures you posted) And if so, was the filter media an issue with the chiller?

Also, I am sure that the lid will not fit if I put the chiller upside down on the filter. I was thinking about making a lid out of plexi glass that will sit between the lights and the opening (also to prevent salt buildup on the lights). I'll definitely drill some holes into it to allow for evaporation. If you installed your chiller on the filter, did you make any modifications for the lid?

I've searched and searched online for answers to my problem but I have yet to find anything. Your thread seemed very helpful, however the pictures would not work so I could not see what yours looked like. I'd really appreciate any help that you can give me on this.

Thank you!
Ashley

Hi, yeah that tank is long gone but I have couple of pictures from the time when I sold this tank which shows the coolworks chiller. If I remember correctly I bought the coolworks chiller which came with a HOB filter with its hole drilled and all. Here is the link to that CoolWorks Microchiller

I also bought a media rack which had hole for the chiller. It worked great for me. Here is the link to the store from where you can buy the media basket - InTank AC20 Media Basket

Here are the pics of my AC20 with chiller and the media rack. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
