I too have been wondering if the single headed coral below that my son bought us for Christmas as a dendro is truly a balano. The large colony was purchased as 2 heads of dendro over a year ago with a small baby and has 16 heads now. The large colony has a fleshy base and the single head has a hard base. The large colony opens all the time, the single head would not until I moved him into my new NPS tank and now he is open all the time. .
