The most humane way to kill..

My peppermint shrimp started eating my anemone so I trapped him out. Now I don't know what to do with him. I live in a small college town (College Station, TX). The only "LFS" around is PETCO and they don't allow livestocks from other tanks into their system. Right now he's in a small container on my desk.. I was considering freezing him but had a change of heart because I don't know if it will hurt him or not

What to do??? This was partially my fault for buying him in the first place :(

Poke holes in your container and put it in the tank. He'll be in a tank within a tank. Then post a free shrimp message on your local Craigslist. Freezing animals is extremely painful and inhumane.

MRDHJ1,

Sorry I don't understand what you said.

Tylt33,

I live in a really small town and I don't know any other local reefers nor is there any reef club/board. The only reason why I thought about freezing him was because I heard fish have cold blood so when they are frozen to death they don't feel anything. I don't know about shrimps though..

freezing cold blooded animals is not painful or inhumane. and i doubt anyone would even bother making a trip out to you to pick up one shrimp. think of it this way, how many shrimp died to fill one cube of brine shrimp feed? freeze him then feed him to your anenome. circle of life and whatnot.

Man I really need to read my replys befor I hit send. What I meant to say was. time to buy a new tank.

I would just freeze it and feed it to the anemone

Then at least the anemone can use the shrimp to build back what what the shrimp ate!
