The mother of all part outs

AoGs are gone. Sorry.

I wanted to just get rid of everything, but I'm considering fragging a polyp here or there just to keep me in the hobby.

I would suggest fragging some of your corals and at least keeping up a 10 or 20 gallon tank. It wouldnt cost to much to set up a small system (probably more or less free since you have rock, heater, and could trade a coral for lights probably). That way you could at least keep some of your stuff and you could stay in the hobby. There are some sweet little critters that would look nice in a nano. :)

icy,I plan on using a 10g, my 15g would be perfect but it's drilled and I am not trying to go to elaborate on the setup. I just need something to get me through the summer, and maybe a few more semesters at school. Once I grad and get a house, then I'll have a huge reef and an even bigger FO tank, haha, I'll go insane with it then.

aquanut6, the 360g, 110g, 75g, and 30g are all spoken for. I still have the 55g (approx) hexagon sump, 40b and 15g drilled for sale.

Craig, I will be using a 10g and it is only 20" long. Although I could use my 15g and setup a sump for it, but I'd rather not get into all that. How much are you looking to get for the light? How old is it and the bulbs? I may just get a cheap NO T5 light. I only will have a few zoas, shrooms and a colt maybe, no clams, anemones or anything too demanding.

If you want to use the 15 do it. Put a threaded bulkhead in the drilled hole. A threaded bulkhead has screw fittings on the inside and outside. The outside for the ring and the inside threads you can put a threaded plug in. No leaks no worries.

Agree with Al, if you put the bulk head in backwards you won't even have anything sticking out the back. Just make sure to keep the bulk head on the side with the flange(sp?).

I hadn't thought about pricing on the light yet, just know I have it sitting in the closet. Not sure about the bulb. You wanna trade me something for it? I'm open to suggestions.

Why not use the 15gal with a 10g as a sump? I have a 2x65W PC ballast and 2 bulbs for the ballast sitting around here, all that you would need is a hood and a pair of end caps. It would be fine for growing softies and LPS and its just sitting around right now.

Well the problem with the 15g is there are two holes drilled on the bottom of the tank. So I'd have to build a stand for it, get the bulkheads/plumbing. It's a lot more work then just setting up the 10g. Plus I don't have the time for all that, people are coming tomorrow to pick up corals and all, so time is very limited. The only advantage of the 15g is its 24" long, so better lighting options, but that isn't a big deal to me, 5g won't change water volume/quality that much. I will only have frags in the tank, no fish. Craig, what would you want for trade? You wanted the 30g, 75 and scallops, I could just take off whatever you think the light is worth from the sale? The only thing is, it's 4" too big! I don't know what I am doing yet. I wouldn't want to run a sump and all with the 15g, that's getting too involved. I am looking for a basic simple setup that won't need anything but my ATO for while I am at the beach. When I get back, I can set up something else. The 15g with a sump would cost to much and be too much work, esp before tomorrow.

Anyone have a 20" light?

Why not shop around for a retrofit kit, and just make a pendant or something man? Would a 70w metal halide be too much for the 10 gallon tank?

I was thinking about that 70w you told me about, but it's more then what I need. I put up a post a week or so ago looking for a 20" light. If someone has one for trade and wants some of the corals/rock etc I am selling, it'd be nice to do a trade. Otherwise I can buy a cheap T5 light from TPP with a 30% off coupon.

If you want to buy end caps the pc ballast that I have would work. I think on ebay end caps are about 5$ with shipping. Then figure another 10$ for a cheap diy wood hood and your in buisness. You can get a reflector for it once you sell off some of your stuff or not even bother and just paint the inside of the hood flat white. If the tank is just going to be for corals why not get a 20L tank new from petsmart for like 25$? That would give you alot of room for corals and you dont need very intense lights on a tank that shallow.

I was thinking about a different tank, but I could just use a 30g or 40b better. I really wanted something small just to sit on my desk. 20L is 30" long and lights a just as hard to find as a 20" long tank. I don't know, I may just throw everything in the 10g for now and set something better up later next week.

Joe, thanks for the offer, I have to think about what I am doing. I always just bought stuff without thinking, now I have so much crap, I don't know what to do with, haha.

hammer, I have the 40b still, it has my fish in it right now, kind of like their QT tank. As far as skimmers go, I have the seaclone for cheap, the emperor aquatics skimmer (supposed to be sale pending) and the pro clear aquatics skimmer (maybe sale pending).

Mache, the salfin is all yours, I have fattened him up pretty good over the last month as well. Let me know when you want to pick him up, the sooner the better, then I can tear down the 40b for hammer. Thanks.

FOR EVERYONE PICKING UP LIVESTOCK, IF YOU COULD PLEASE BRING BAGS, I RAN OUT. I will try to get more, but it's best if you have some bags to bring, thanks!
