While in the process of changing tanks I got my tomato clown in the net and when I went to release, he is stuck. Almost looks like he actually ate the net, or it is caught around the mouth and gills. I cuped him in my hand and tried to pull lightly, but it was not working.

any tips? I just have him in the net in a bucket of water to see if he will release, but no luck.

The other thing is on the bottom of a few of the rocks is this yellow slimy mass that stinks real bad? Anyone know what this is? Should I put in the new tank or power wash off first?

thanks

Most likely the fist of many questions over the next few days.

Next issue, my urchin is stuck to the glass, I tried to pull off with net, but I cracked two of the spines off. Any tips?

use a credit card to scrape him off gently....power head directed to base migh work too

thanks, got everything out of the 55. just waiting for some help to move in the 125 from garage..

I obviously had to buy more sand, do you suggest I keep old semi dirty sand on bottom and cover with new fresh sand, or mix it all?

anyone have an approx weight of a filled 125 reef with rocks?

my 55 gallon was on a wall the spread the weight over 5 beams. the new location is opposite. the beams run the same way as the tank. I just don't want it to fall into the basement.

I think the running estimate is 10 lbs per gallon so you're at around 1200. You're spreading the weight over 6 feet so I wouldn't worry to much, think about the weight of a full hutch in a dining room.

ok my fiancee's father does home construction so he is coming over Monday to put in another beam underneath. Cheap labor so what the heck.

as long as the tank goes accross the beams is better.

dont mix the sand. get new sand if you can, & seed it with a few cup full from the old one.

its not going accross this is why I am concerned. It is going parallel on 2 beams. I'll make it stronger.

new tank is half way full and I am starting to acclimate some corals so I can add my old tank water in.

I am beat!!!!
