The Nikon Coolpix AW100

Alaskan

I just picked up a new camera for a snorkeling trip next month that has been a lot of fun with the reef so I figured Id let you all in on my thoughts.

So far the new Nikon AW100 has been a great camera I have only shot a couple hundred shots with it so far but I have been impressed. All the features that I have tried have worked as they claimed including the smiling faces mode, kinda fun. As for underwater shooting so far all I have done is snap shots in my tank and I will say that the macro feature does work great. All of the pictures that I have been taking have been nice and crisp and clear. I'm normally a DSLR shooter and until now and exclusive Canon guy, but I do like this little camera.

My only complaint is that the controls are a little cramped for me but thats easy to get over.

Here are a few pictures of my tank takin with the AW100 all of these pics are direct from the camera no editing of any kind.

Wow! Thank you for sharing. Your pictures proof it is a good camera that quality meet I expectation, but how many times you have tried in tank shooting? My most concern is after days the water proof start failing.

Thanks! I have used it a few times underwater so far, and according to Nikon they recommend having the seal changed once a year if used heavily but that is a warning that my older water tight cameras also said in the fine print. I will report if I find any other issues with it.

I got one for Christmas and have pretty much done the same amount of photo taking as you. I like it so far and will keep people posted if I run into any issues. I posted a few photos on the other AW100 thread in here.

At least so far all positive ;-) I went to Frys tonight but they are out of stock ;-( I will buy from some where else if did not hear negative feedback from you in these two days

Thanks again.

Cool let me know how you like it if you end up getting one. One thing I would recommend is to go onto Nikon's website and read through the manual it goes over all the features quite well.

I went the Vegas Fry's before I left and second one in LA before my flight, but... no luck, it is out of stock. AW100 must be hot. I am back to Taiwan now, and I think I should be able to find it in Taiwan soon. Wish me luck!

I just got my AW100 and here are some of my first shots....
AW100 did meet my expectation, but my photo skills and my SPS not yet ;-(
