"the package" and vacation??

I'm all but set to order "the package" (finally!) but I'm a little concerned about leaving for vacation with it in the tank. I'll be leaving on a week vacation in 3 weeks, but I'd like to get it set up before I go. How much attention will "the package" need while I'm gone? Will I need to have my neighbor come over and feed the tank? What do I feed it? Is it able to be left on it's own for a week (assuming top-off water stays up and the tank is mostly stable?) So I guess this is really a three-part question: What do I feed the tank, how often, and can it last a week without feeding? Any other tips would be helpful as this will be my first saltwater setup, and am kind -of learning as I go. Foresight into keeping things from dying is much appreciated!!

I would just wait till you get back. Richard is good on shipping when you let him know and usually arrives the next day. :)

man, that's a bummer! I was really hoping to get the tank going. Would I likely experience a crash if I was gone for that long after having the tank up for such a short amount of time.

awe come on now bues0022, you can make it, you have waited this long so you can wait a little bit longer..I know it is gonna be hard but you I promise you Richard will make it worth the wait as he does for EVERYONE. I gotta agree with scowii i would just wait until you get back from vacation to order it. Richard is really quick and could even probably have it to you the next day after you order.

You mentioned sw is new to you, i recommend lots of reading and research, if you have any questions about your tbs as you can see this is a great forum for advice and opinions and you can also email richard directly if you need to.

Yeah, SW is a new animal for me. I got hooked on it actually when my wife (girlfriend at the time) stumbled upon the TBS site almost 2 years ago! I got hooked, and especially like how Richard is not only "sustainable" in his practices, but is creating new habitat where there was just blank ocean floor. I've been heavily researching for the past 6 months now, working to get the tank up. I actually ran into a few plumbing/skimmer problems last night during my FW test, so it is best to have waited! If I had ordered up already, I'd be sunk!

I think you guys are right, wait it out. By that time, I'll be able to make sure EVERYTHING in my system is running just the way I want before I add the SW. It's so close though...... :)
