1. Bristleworms are good guys. You WANT them. Be thankful if you have them. No, they can't eat anything that hasn't already dissolved. As in, slime or porridge.

2. Never cycle a tank with a fish.

3. The smallest clowns and chromis are the only damsels that don't need a 100 gallon tank.

4. Wear gloves when handling corals. They're happier that way. Wear gloves when handling rock. Your worms will be happier that way.

5. Corals aren't hard. They just take 1-3 tests and a disposition to do what's recommended.

6. The sticky notes at the top of each forum contain answers to at least half the questions asked below.

7. Always read somebody's tank information before answering their question: don't tell them, "A lionfish would be neat," when their tank says 30 gallons and their fish list says gobies.

8. Fill out your own tank info in your profile: it will help staff help you when you're having an emergency and are too rattled to list things accurately.

9. Don't dose anything you don't also own a test for.

10. Don't take an action like dumping some wonder-stuff into your tank and THEN asking if it was a good idea. Getting it out again is beyond us. And it usually takes 10 minutes or less to get a response from somebody with experience on RC.

And I am hereby deputizing all experienced reefers and good new hobbyists to repeat this list in its entirety or item by item in posts across the forums, as applicable. ;)

And---I might add---there is now a tank size sticky in the newbie forum. It is advisory, but it is produced with the most modern data we could come up with, relative to tanks that are commercially available.
