The Start Of A 470 Gallon Reef

470 tank

470 tank

Obviously Batman is there because Bruce Wayne is helping to pay for this monster tank! (I think he is planning on keeping the Penguin captured in the tank.)
Seriously, this is a great set up, I love the surface area and central overflow set up.

what did u put on top of the h beams, plywood? awesome setup, probably gonna copy ur stand

Thanks :)

The white stuff is starboard very freakin expensive!

Love it. I am planning to make the same stand. How much did the beams cost you? I hear they are not expensive but I have no idea what the actual cost will be. What will you be putting in the tank? How about a nice Indo-Pacific reef flat biotope? ; )

will the tank be bare-bottom? cool idea to place the starboard under the tank.

I can't do a bare bottom, I have tried it before and it's not for me. I will be running a mixed reef more on the LPS side of things.

For all four beams it was like $350. not to bad...

love that setup and why would anyone do that to batman?

Wow, Batman has become the hit of this thread :) I got that at a comic book show. I have never seen another one and just had to have it. I have nothing against Batman at all, it was just such a unique piece I couldn't pass it by!

Batman is cool but Spiderman rules!!!!! lol
I am so happy to hear this tank will be mostly LPS and not another SPS tank. No offence anyone, I just prefer LPS too. Without debating the issue, are you using a DSB or shallow just for aesthetics? I'm just curious because I can't decide myself which to use.
$350 for the beams doesn't sound bad. Were they cut to size too?

I like SPS but it's to tempermanetal for my taste. As far as the sanbed, I'm going shallow for aesthetics.

On the beams they were cut to size.

Vamp, what thickness is the acrylic? Also, any idea how much the tank weighs?

:D

The acrylic is 1-1/4" thick and it weighs just over 600lbs.
