The Sting???

IS it me or are Mushroom polyps or Mushrooms invincible to the sting of a anemone...

Countless times when my LTA was on the move it would smother mushrooms and to my amazement they don't die or react in weird ways...Though it seems after the LTA moved they all multiplied or became so humongous...Some are 4-6 inches in diameter...(is that normal for a mushroom to get so big...)????

And are there certain corals that simply can be in close contact with each other...sps and sps/ lps and lps /how about softy and softy...

Ex: Can a frogspawn touch a leather or another hammer or another frogspawn and not kill that other neighboring corals...

?????

Yeah I have those purple/blue mushrooms that get that huge. Mushrooms are great for beginners because they grow easily and as you discovered are hard to kill.

I've been scraping them off and out of my main tank, even breaking a rock in half to rid a massive outbreak of mushrooms to my 29 gal. Now however, the 29 also has an outbreak of these mushrooms.

LPS's Large Polyp Stony) like similar frogspawn or hammers tend to be ok touching each other but may show signs of slight damage from each other. If too close, one may, over time, dominate and eventually eliminate its neighbor. I woudn't put a leather (soft) next to a LPS. Leathers can slime pretty badly when stung. I have some nepthia that is being kept in check on on side by a hammer coral. Nepthia shows little black sting marks when it gets stung.
