Any ideas on covering up the wood trim on the tank? I'd rather not paint.

wow 31 high... are you going to do fish or corals ..if you do corals and if you want to put any thing on the bottom you will need halides

I'm going to start with a T5 fixture and 1 MH pendant, will more than likely add another before it is said and done.

Thanks! I can't wait. Gar is off next weekend and said he would set everything up. We'll see........

Would love to hear some creative ideas on covering up the wood trim :D .

congrats!! wohooo! now the fun begins. man, that's a really deep tank, you better get some good grabby pinchers! :)

i'd just pain the wood...but if you REALLY don't wanna, just make a frame to cover over it and paint the frame maybe?

Looks nice:)
You could just paint the trim with some of that spray paint made for plastic. Maybe rough it up with some fine grit sandpaper beforehand to help it stick.

Just an idea, I used a taller piece of trim molding and secured it so it actually went above the wood on the stand and this effectively covered the tank molding.

Art told me that he had the idea to put a strip of wood in front of the tank's trim that's connected to the stand (such that it kinda makes the tank recessed a bit) and then paint it the same color as the stand.

That would work and could look pretty nice if you make the wood something other than plain.

I would leave it though but that's just because I'm lazy.

The trim is black! And for less than $6! Black contact paper from Home Depot.

I have a 31 tall tank and got some of those long grabbers from fostersmiths and they are perfect for retrieving things like fallen food clips or moving around things on the sand. FWIW I run 250 halides and the sand things do fine. I think lots of lower light stuff will do fine down low with the T5's. I moved lots of my frags from halides over to a VHO holding tank and they look better than ever so I think sometimes we overkill things with light.
Tank is going to look nice. :) Love the cheap fix on the trim, great idea!!

The tank is full!

We still have a million things to do, but it is nice to have it filled up. I have 50lbs of rock on the way and I'm getting ready to place an order for some shelf rock today.
