Got the go ahead from my wife to build a fish room to house a new basement sump for my 90g DT. The trade off is that I have to build her a cedar closet.

Half our basement is finished and for years has been occupied by our kids but with my son away at college and my daughter in HS no one ever goes down there. So we are reclaiming it.

The fish room is an alcove with three walls almost directly under the tank , it's about 11x7 and will not need much done to it other than adding some type of door/doorway to it.

Already purchased a 40 breeder for the new sump, can't wait to get started.

Nice. I've been tossing the idea around for a bit but I'd have it open in the basement and am afraid of the added humidity. I'm also afraid of how many options I'd follow and how large my water changes would have to become. Once you have the sump setup you need a fuge, but then you need a prop addition. Why not a DSB with mangroves to add some greenery to the room? That should be at least 2'x4' and you might as well put some creatures in there. Oh, a benthic zone too. You have to put that extra rock to use somewhere.

Have fun!

Edit:
I forgot to add that you'd need to setup a push button water change system. That'd come first!

I have a sump that currently sits under my tank, just relocating to the basement and going slightly larger . 30G to 40G breeder
