The_Rider - Zen Garden (~250g system)

Hi hermann,

It can control DIY fan by doing ON/OFF, but the big advantages of the GHL fans is that they are variable, which means that if the temp is just slightly higher it will start slowly and if the temp keeps rising, it will go faster and faster. They are also really quiet and somewhat stylish. If you have a rimless setup, it will be nicer but with a canopy, if your FIY fans can keep up with the temp, you don't really need the GHL fans, unless you need more power and quieter :P

Is it still snowing in PA ?

Here, we receive 0.01mm of snow lol

Alex B

OK, so I just could switch the fans on and off, correct? That's fine with me. Remember, I will have a fish room, so many possibilities.
The GHL fans are nice, but pricy. But what do you expect from a German Company?! ;)

Well, I have the possibility to laser / plasma stainless steel sheet metal. Therefore, I can design my own housing. :D

... 0.01 mm snow, boy, that's a lot!! If you need a snow-blower, you can have it in July .... :D
I shoveled snow this morning for 1h. I guess we have now close to 4ft.

Thanks,

Hermann

Other than the trio, a friend of mine had a crocea clam that didn't have enough place in her tank due to two HUMONGOUES squamosa lol so she gave it to me :) (Thank Cath)

Hahaha! Sound strange to me to be tanked on ReefCentral!lol That was a pleasure for me to share with friends, especially when they help me as you do.;-) And hahaha, I wonder why you told that my squamosa clams are so huge?:wildone:

BTW, nice thread Alex and really nice setup too, I'm jealous, really!:wildone: See you sunday!(maybe with some new corals for your DT!):lolspin:

Hi Hermann,

I'm so jealous ! If I could have acces to a laser/plasma stainless cutter, I would do CRAZY design with it ... Now sure if it would look nice but I would sure have a lot of fun lol For the fans, yes you could control it on/off. I hope march bring us a little bit of snow because I want to go snowboarding but without enough snow, it sucks lol

No problem Hermann, it's a pleasure

Update :
I had yesterday 1x Tunze 6105 to my setup and WOW ! This pump is powerful, I'm actually scared to find the resonance for me setup because I can for sure create a wave that will be higher than my tank and landed a huge amount of water on my floor lol I actually unsync intentionnally my wave so it's not creating a wave lol But man that I love my new tunze :D

I did have to change around a couple of coral because the flow what to intense. My RBTA rock got a 180 degree rotation so the RBTA is now in the canyon without a lot of flow, but she's all open up and she's maybe 1.5x the size she had so I think she like the amount of flow (Yes, I decided that my RBTA was a she lol)

My frogspawn and hammer also change place and I still need to find where I wanna put my green pocci. It have a nice size but I'm not to sure where to put it so it's residing in my frag lol I cannot wait for my tunzes to be paid so I can begin looking for some SPS that are not green :P Too much green right now in my tank lol

I also purchase a Deltec Fr-509 to replace one of the phosban 150 reactor, maybe both :P

I add sand to my frag tank finally, I could not stand the barebottom. I will add a two spot goby so it can take care of the sand in a couple of week. I know that when you begin to add fish to your frag tank it will eventually become another DT lol

I was also looking to add something special (fish wise) to my frag tank ... Something that will fit in 25g rimless ? I didn't find anything that I told myself : I need to have that ! Do you guys have some suggestions ?

Thank for reading :) I will post picture as soon as my FT will be clear

I just updated my firmware and my profilux control to be able to received notification by email :D Really easy, the hardest part was to find my internet provider email password lol Never used that email in 8 years lol

I took a picture of my green monticap :)

So yesterday was a big day for me and my tank

I went to pickup my multifasciatus couple !!!! :inlove:

DSC_0008RESIZED-1.jpg

They are not shy at all, always swimming 80% of the time around the big cave. Already swimming together all the time. I would not say that their is aggression but sometime more of a domination, showing who's the boss but nothing to be worry about :) I will take others pictures today for sure :P

They also had an coral shipment, couldn't resist to this coral ... but I don't know exactly what it is, I tried the SPS coral id but no response yet

Thank you
Alex B

If I were to say what I think it is I believe it looks like some form of Stylaster spp. I saw a pink one at a shop yesterday and it looks very similar. Maybe that will get you started on figuring it out.

Hey!
was the multifasciatus expensive? What's the best: keeping a couple or you can have just one of these in a tank?
realy nice setup by the way !!!

Wow Chris, I cannot be thankful enough !! I've been litterally looking for hours going throught all the fragsite, id forum, etc. And I did found anything that could remotely look like it. Then I sae your answers and google Stylaster and I found disticophora which really ressemble my coral :) The difference I found with the stylaster, is that disticophora has "groove" in the skeleton. I don't know if someone could double-check my ID plz ?

Thanks again Chris !

Thanks Antoine,

I paid 150$ CAN each coming from Quality Marine throught my LFS. You can have one in a tank without problem but it's a difficult species, they are hard to adapt to captive life. Are you from quebec ?? Even montreal maybe ?

Alex B

WOW !! I saw one there http://www.reefhotspot.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_24&products_id=1565 and i thought it was maybe 25$ more expensive here in Canada but... Well not a fish for my budget!!
And I'm from Sherbrooke...

do you have any new fts ?

oh! you got what you wanted... a good foot of snow...

Hi Antoine,

I didn't saw your question. I don't have any full tank shot at the moment. I've had crazy weeks full of exams, papers and stuff to submit, but I would take time this thursday to take some pictures :) Do you go on the other french forum of the LFS we have in Laval ? I have the same nickname :P

Any updates???????????????????

Thanks Dcook

Nothing new at the moment. Corals are growing. I did add my second 6105 and hook up my FR-509 instead of the two phosban 150. I also bought the TLF magnet veggie clip !!1 What a good investment lol I really love it, no more clip that are falling at the bottom of the tank lol. My frogspawn and hammer been move because there was too much flow with the two 6105 but they are adjusting well. My sand been pushed away from the long side because of the flow, been trying a lot of position but it still been move so I'm not sure what I will do for now.

I will take some pictures thursday after my exam :)

I'm still having some cyano on part of my rock that were unexposed in my previous setup ... Cyano is only on the part that where anaerobic so maybe there a link ?

I didn't make any changes, letting my multis settle down before I had any new fishes. I want to add some invert, cleaner shrimp, fire shrimp and anemone crab also :)

I didn't take any FTS yet, still waiting for the cyano to go but there not too much left so hopefully my tank will be presentable lol

I did take picture of my candycane with his feeding tentacle out :)

Still searching for THE fish for my frag tank ...

On another note, my LFS received some nano cube from BLAU ... They are so nice, I'm searching for reason to buy one lol No a good idea, since my setup is not nearly complete at all lol (reef addict !)

Thanks
Alex B

Sorry Guys, I haven't update for a while ! Been caught up with my work.

So I have a good news and a bad one ... :(

Let begin by the good news :P

I went to my LFS to pickup a white package yesterday :)

DSC_0009-2.jpg

What could it be ???

DSC_0011-1.jpg

Hehe !!! Since they were announces that I want one, so I pulled the plug and bought myself a SC2560 :) I have my own white beast now !! My precious :hmm4: lol

I'm really amazed by the quality and attention to detail they put on their new line. The new pump is amazinly quiet, the only item in my "setup" that make noise is my AC in the window lol

Bubble Bubble !!

Here it is, sitting in my sump warming up to work

On the sad note, I didn't see my Gold Sleep head goby for a couple of days, been looking around the tank but I didn't see a body, so I thought he was just hiding ... Today I found his body on the other side of the frag tank 6' away from the tank :'( He was my first fish and I had such a hard time gettign him to eat... He was around 5" now, I got him went he was only 1.5-2' long ... I'm really sad, I will miss him for sure.

Now I need another sand cleaner now that won't make a mess, do you guys have some less common fish to suggest ?

RIP lil' gold head goby
