The_Rider - Zen Garden (~250g system)

The semester is finally finished !!! :bounce1:

I had time to clean my glasses that were somewhat neglected during my semester :S I always had only one glass clean on 3 but now there are all spotless :D I didn't had nothing much during the past couple months, I did had a multicolor angel that I just love, really interesting to watch. I'm currently thinking about maybe pairing her up, I think she's a female she's rounder than the other one at my LFS ... Maybe I will pair then up :P Need to find/build an acclimatation box for socialization.

I add a acropora simplex that was was brownish but began to color up :) A hydnopora that is fluo green, but the polyps are so extended that I don't see the body at all lol

I also want to begin to buy more livestock because my tank is so empty lol I'm building my wishlist but cannot decide on what I want exactly yet :S

So here's my foxface that is "hiding"

And my small female royal gramma was building a nest, I think she did had egg because my multicolor passed all day check her hiding spot and looked like he was trying to get to something

I will add my wishlist tomorrow to have suggestion and post more picture :)

Thanks
Alex B

Very nice tank Alex! I also have a built by Miracles and love. BTW your pictures are amazing!

Thanks Austin, Brian and Pwetb

As far as addition, I'm still debating on which fish to add next. There is a Male Multicolor at my LFS and I would love to try to pair them up. The problem is that they are about the same size and I'm not sure if it would be best to try to find a smaller female or a bigger male. I PM Copps and is waiting for his opinion and advice :D

On the other size, I'm still a gear junkie lol I ordered a Swabbie 10" to go with my 2560 :D Can't wait to receive it !!! I also bought an Hanna Phosphorous meter !! It's so easy to use, I will buy the Hanna Alkalinity once I finish my Salifert test for sure.

Here are some picture of part of my reef

This is one side of my tank, there are some frag that I transfered for cleaning purposes, my CBB always inspect anything new to the tank and take care of aiptasia in seconds, and then my foxface or my angel take care of any algea that can be on them. I haven't transfered them back because of the algea outbreak that I have in my FT ... I need to do a little clean up and change my Koralia 4 that does put enough flow ... I also need to sell my Borbonius Anthias ... That has is day, he was with a Tailspot Blenny for 4-5 months but last month he made my blenny jump. Then I added 4 peppermint shrimp to take care of some aiptasia ... Made them jump too lol

On the picture below there is about 1/3 of the tank missing on the rightside of the picture

And here is about 1/3 of the tank on the other side

My female picasso-ish. My female developed black about one month ago and my male is beginning to get darker on his back :D

Thank you Reef or Die ! My manifold is underuse at the moment, I change my skimmer so I only have my GFO reactor hook up ... lol but I should find time to install my UV unit some day. Hopefully I will be able to installed it before his first anniversary in may lol The part I loved the most about my manifold is my acclimation exit. It's so easy to acclimate fish with that !! No more tube, siphon etc etc just open the valve and let it go :D I love that

What a stunning tank - thanks for sharing

Thank you Michael B :D

very nice tank and animals. congratulations!

Thank you ClaudioJr

I'm sorry for the late reply, the notification doesn't seems to work all the time.

Hey mate,

Just wondering where you purchased that "The Zen Garden" Sign or where you had it made up?

Thank you Shannon, I had the Zen Garden Sign made by the owner of my LFS. He has a CNC so it was "easy" to do for him. You can see his tank also on here, it's Tipou's Boyfriend "750G L-Shape"

That video is fairly crisp man, good job, what DSLR do ya use? Love the opening scene with the reflection.

Thanks ! :) I use a Nikon D300s

That's a great video, love the music too, keep us updated! Your Multi Angelfish is looking especially good, nice bright colors :)

Thanks :D I really love my multicolor. I may attend to add another one to have a pair :) I'm waiting for my acclimate XL so I can introduce the new one slowly to his tankmate.

I've always been intrigued by the protogynous nature of these fish... You'll have to share with us how the pairing goes. :D I've read cleaner wrasse can help defend angels against parasites, does your cleaner wrasse seem to interact well with the multicolor? What kind of food does your multicolor seem to like?

For sure, I will share that for sure, my LFS still has a male multicolor, but the problem is that they are around the same size. I gonna check into an Acclimate XL box and probably gonna try it if it still there once I will receive my Acclimate XL.

The cleaner wrasse is longer than my Multicolor and he's been around for quite some time now (3 years) and since I don't have a lot of fish, I don't see a lot of cleaning interaction anymore. My cleaner wrasse is checking for parasite but I didn't see any real cleaning. I'm pretty sure it's a female from what I could read on glassbox about the female sometime missbehaving and wanting to clean fishes to hard ... And my cleaner wrasse definitely goes hard on fish from time to time lol

My multicolor is a real pig, he's eating everything I put in the tank but he can eat big whole PE mysis so he's usually following my Copperband that spit shell of mysis and there is usually still some part left. She put on some weight fairly rapidly :) After writing all this, I can't wait to receive my Acclimate box so I can bring home the male multicolor :P Might call to put it on hold lol

Thanks
Alex B
