There is ANOTHER ONE in there!

Well, I thought I had a Mantis shrimp in my tank. Actually, I KNEW I had one in there- Mr. BoJangles had made himself known on more than one occasion. He had been living happily in his 38 gallon tank for about 6 weeks. I decided to try to transplant him into his new home, a 7 gal bowfront, so I could have the 38 gal for a couple of Ocelaris clowns...

I was across the room, and I saw something swimming in the tank... At first, I thought it was Mr. Bogangles, But it wasnt red- It was green...

It decided to stay out and watch me for a while, so I ran and grabbed the camera-

So, there is a Mrs. BoJangles, too... (I have no clue, really, never lifted the mantis skirt!)/ He/She is about 2 1/2 inches long. It was VERY active for a while today, swimming all over the tank- Something that I have never observed.

The plan is to trap them, still... I will be keeping one- It will be tough to choose between the brilliant Red Mr. BoJangles and his new found green counterpart... Although they HAVE lived in there peacefully for several weeks.

I am AMAZED that I am still finding 'stuff' in the TBS liverock a month and a half after putting it in there... Well worth the price.

SDM has a point, since what you have appear to be Neogonodactylus wennera and they usually do change from red (deeper water coloration) to green (in captivity). You probably do have two but don't count your mantis until you've seen them both at the same time :D

I have seen both of them... And suspect that there MIGHT even be one more...
A few more pics from tonight-
This is the Red one, he has a burrow in and under the largest piece of live rock in the tank... When I came home tonight, he clicked at me, then came out for a visit... He retired to his 'cave' by the time I had the camera, but he peeked out at me for a while...

Then, The new guy showed up... I Bribed him to pose with some food-

This is a fuzzy pic... He is F-A-S-T...

Here he is in his home... He lives under a smaller piece of live rock in the front of the aquarium. He doesn't appear to live in a hole in the rock at all, more under it. He has 3 entrances- One is right in the front of the aquarium... He likes to peek out at me... Kinda creepy.

The have both become pretty social- They seem to come out whenever people come in the room. I havent seen them both out at the same time, but I am absolutly positive that there are 2- as one is still red, the other green...

did anyone else ever notice how red N.wennerae front pictures look like floyd(muppets)?

Mr. Bojangles has some new tankmates-

A couple of juvenile Ocelaris Clowns...

Mr. Bojangles clicked at me a couple of times while the clowns were acclimating, Then he came out and looked at them for a while.

Mrs. BoJangles did the same- Just stared.

Once they were released, the clowns started to swim around the tank to check things out.

Mr. Bojangles was watching them-

He sat in his home for a while, and then went for a walk... He keeps looking at the clowns, but it appears to be curiosity more than anything- Hopefully he doesnt see them as food!

When he is watching them, he looks at them for a while, then looks at me, then back at them... Bizzare. Both Mr. and Mrs. are becoming VERY social critters- Whenever I come home, they both click at me then come out to see me... These things are GREAT.
