They should be ok no?

I had 4 little oscellaris in a 10g. I was going to add a couple inverts and noticed the salt level was a tad low. I poured maybe a 1/4 ( no more then a 1/3) cup of salt into the hang-on filter on the back. I figured the floss and 2 sponges would get it mixed up before it entered the tank. I broke up the quarter into 4 or more "applications".

I think the clowns felt the salinity and moved to the other side.

I wouldn't add salt to a tank that way. I'd let evaporation raise the SG. Rapid changes in SG can cause problems, but you're probably okay.

I also wouldn't add salt that way. I would add saltwater to topoff evaporation until I reached where I wanted to be. The direction say to never add directly to a tank with animals.

If you need to you could remove some of the water from the tank and add some salt to that and then slowly add it back to the tank. Do this multiple times (SLOWLY) until you reach your target SG.

If water low then add water only. It will evap but the salt will not causing the salinity to rise. Top water off whene needed and you need to change 10 % weekly with this being important in that small tank. What you did could kill the fish. Also they get kinda big in time and will require i larger tank .

I got a bunch of tanks. They're only 1" if that. I didn't think adding a small amount would really harm them? =( figured it wouldnt be dry by the time it got out of the hang-on. I thought the warning meant directly to the tank.

I use to do that once in a while for my 40 gallon, I kept pouring salt into the sump until I reached the salinity I want. But like the other guys said...not too safe, I did it just for experimentation. Nothing ever died or stressed from it though.
