Thick Cc??

I have a bed of 3" to 5" CC and want to know if this is to deep or bad? it'store bought and heard that sand is better? my tank is 60g...

CC will work well, provided enough manual cleaning is done. I use fine sand, now, since animals will do the cleanup for me. If CC is not cleaned carefully, it can trap a lot of organic debris and become a nitrate source, in my experience.

go with SAND! I did 2/3 sand and 1/3 CC and i regret it completely!! It stays dirty and my goby keeps my sand white! Trust me, you will regret CC.

That much CC will require a lot of siphoning if you have much of a load in the tank. It really traps detritus and excess food if its not kept clean. Sand really takes care of itself once you get the right critters to keep it that way.
