Thick glass...headache?

I have a used deep dimension tank and after filling it up and adding a few hermits I am noticing I am getting almost nauseous trying to focus in on them up close to the glass. I do not experience the same thing at all in my 30 gallon cube. Does anyone else experience this or is it an issue with my contact lenses or something?

I have not had a tank of this thickness of glass so I am trying to give it time to adjust but it is kind of a bummer when I placed it to be right next to the chair and it is really straining my eyes if I am not perfectly parallel to the item I am trying to view.

I believe this has to do with the index of refraction of glass (and how the wavelength is changed). As you look through the glass at different angles the light passes through varying thickness of glass, therefore is refracted differently and produces varying distortion.

My tank is 3/4 glass. If I look strait at a coral or fish its clear but if I look at something on a very sharp angle it's a little distorted. It's not that bad though, doesn't make me nauseous.

Try drinking then looking through and maybe it'll seem straight!!! :D
Joking. I don't have the issue with my 220 but I've had it for years so maybe I'm used to it
