Thick or Thin Substrate?

What is everyone doing theses days? My last tank I had 6 to 7 inches. I was thinking of going with 1" to 2" this time. Please give me your comments good and bad.

I'm upgrading from a 50g with 2-3" to a 110G, I was going to put 6" but decided to go with a starboard with sand epoxyed on it with 1/2-1" of sand with a 6" in the refugium (have 5" currently)

Setting up mine with about 4".
I think a lot of people don't like the look of deep sand in their display, but I think it looks more oceanlike and I like the small dunes that can form.

Gonna get the same answer. Some like thick some thin. Both have issues!

The first time I used 6 to 7" cause it was the way to go, but I hear people have been going to 1 to 2". Is there any positive or negative, advise going with the shallow bed?
