Things that bothered me at RAP!!!

RAP was really cool and I had a lot of fun and it was nice meeting other reefers, but here are some things that I need to get off my chest that really bothered me at RAP and I'd like to hear your complaints as well.

Ok #1
That guy who won like 4 skimmers at the raffles!!!! He was a vendor who owned a store near sacramento!!!! Aghhhhhh!!!! I wanted the bm 160 so bad and I totally thought I was going to win because i put a bunch of tickets in and they clearly didn't shake the jugs because he put his tickets in at the very end and clearly it paid off. Also that guy was so smug and pompous I wanted to vomit on him (oh and if you are him and you are reading this, have fun driving back up to sacramento!). I don't think vendors should be allowed to buy raffle tickets. It's not fair and also it doesn't make sense. He is just going to resell it at his store (he told me so) and if I had gotten it I would be able to set up my new tank and buy more corals thus supporting the reef community! Grrrrrr... and he was so smug about winning and bragged about winning another raffle somewhere else. Cheating anyone? OK well that's enough of him.

#2
That guy who wouldn't go lower on those true steve tyree watermelon echinos. $250 for a less than half inch frag that didn't have any eyes?!!!! I wanted that so badly but his price was way too high especially for a frag convention. And he said he was the one who supplied it to Steve Tyree and I told them that Atlantis was selling them for $150 a while back and he said that they were lying because Ming still wanted to buy a frag from him. Anyway, that guy irks me and his tank isn't even that nice.

Lot's of hot girls there, which was surprising. Why is this bad? I think most of them were there with their boyfriends or husbands. What I want? A girl who loves corals and reef aquariums! What I get? Jack.

#4
Duncans and micros were so cheap there!!! Why didn't I wait?

On the upside, I got to meet a lot of vendors and I got some wicked macroalgae. Oh and I was hoping to meet some RCers there which I did but I was wondering. Who went? What did you look like? I just want to know who I saw there. I was the asian kid with red hair. It's nice to see you all.

People that ask you to bring corals for you (when you live 1.5 hours away from the convention) saying that they are going to hook you up but end up low balling you big time.

I brought 50+ heads of xenia on a huge nice rock and got offered $40 dollars of CREDIT; not even cash. That's a joke.

Hahaha,

I knew someone would post about the dude who won several items in a row during the 3pm raffle. Good for him (i guess). I did notice that the containers were not being shaken and most of the tickets drawn were all from right around the same number series. Oh well, that's life.

I think the OC grounds weren't expecting such a large crowd, the food vendor kept running out of items.

My only suggestion would be to give out booth numbers to the vendors. I had a very hard time remembering what tables I wanted to revisit as many did NOT have names.

It was a super fantastic fun event despite a couple of very minor hiccups. Thanks to SCMAS for all the hard work!!!

I like number 3, if I knew it earlier I would show up just for that, don't care if they belong to someone else.

I agreed with number 1 not fair vendor BIG NO NO but I noticed some people already selling it back for profit so too bad you didn't win otherwise you would sell it back too.

The bottom line is FUN...I honestly regret that I didn't go I missed out number 3..now it off my chest too.

Yeah, the watermelon prices were pretty high. My g/f went and told me that someone was selling the echino for 250, and i thought she had the wrong coral in mind.

On another note, OCAquatic has a really nice, huge piece of watermelon echino for $320. Anyone interested in splitting?

I totally agree with #3! Did you see the hot asian girl with the tank top at one of those vendors??

now I really regretting about not going.

I wouldn't sell it. I've been wanting a bm 160 so badly for my new tank. Besides he didn't have to be all snobby. He was an acro snob and quite frankly that's annoying. Like fly-fisherman who refuse to use wet flies, it's like hey there are other corals in the sea and a lot of them rock and why didn't you want to trade anything other than acros?! And why don't you like micromussa? And why did you make you friend stay at your booth while you looked around?

OC Aquatics sucks. They were the one who scammed me.

Did any of you take pics of the hotties? I think there were 2 walking around when i got there.

LOL I would have.. but my girlfriend was there.

I was doubly-annoyed with the first raffle, because for the second one I put my tickets in as late as possible and they shook them up! Ah well.

Next year: lottery-style ball hopper! That would be so much cooler, too.

Justin - that was the main reason I don't do trade or sell without knowing how much up front. So did you end up selling the 50+ heads ?
