things to look for in your tank?

hey all,
now that my tank has been running for a couple of months now (about a month with good parameters) i have gone down to water testing and doing 5 gal water changes once a week.

i am wondering what are some good signs to look for that something might be going wrong?

i would just like to know so i can stay a step ahead of a problem!

for the first few months you might see some algae phases regardless of nitrates/phosphates. But after say...4 or 5 months...the phases are usually done. So if you start seeing algae popping up, you better make sure you test your nitrates and phosphates (but you should be testing all the time anyways, so it shouldnt come as a surprise).

Yes keeping your eye on all perms will let you know if something is wrong.I would be looking for pods , coraline , and unwanted guest right now.
