thinking about LED lights

Hello,

I am thinking about changing my current light set up to a LED setup. I am currently running just 1 x 96 watt pc 50/50 on a 240 tall 72 x 24 x 31 glasscages. I have a total of 3 x 96 watt 50/50 power compacts but the bulbs are way past there life and just using one right now because of algae problems. I was originally thinking about picking up 2 x 250watt metal halides jbj k-1 http://www.hellolights.com/jbjk-1250wmetalhalideretrofitkit.aspx and 14k bulbs.

Now i am also starting to think about some LED lights from marineland Double Bright LED lights 36" or 48" setup. Now the color rating is 6k. Would this be a problem causing algae to grow since it is lower in the spectrum?

For fish the tank has the following.....
porcupine puffer
barred moray eel
niger trigger
humu trigger
kole tang
scopas tang
arc eye hawkfish
tomato clown

I know lights are not critical on a FOWLR tank but i am looking to bring out more color in the fish. The power compact setup is a little drab. When there is natural light coming in through the windows the colors look better on the fish compared to when the power compacts are on. Also would the LED be too bright compared to metal halide? I am a bit worried that it may make the tank too bright and stress the fish.

Thank you

Light?

I would do more research on the LED's they are going to save alot of money compared to Metal Halides. The marineland double bright Led Fixture may give you what you need. Have you thought about building your own LED set-up? I have a 250watt MH and 4@39watt T-5's on my 46 bow and a 96watt pc on the fuge. Planning to build one when I can...:eek1:
