Thinking of getting a Copper Band this week

I've gotten two, both were heathy at the store and eating... They both died. One of my favorite fish too so it's unfortunate but I won't get another most likely.

.... This has been on my fish list for a long time. I guess it should probably stay on the list just like Powder Blue Tangs, Dwarf Lions, and the Bella Goby.

iv tried three.... one i know died from velvet i had. the others were eating in store and eating for over a month. One day, they just died.

i have no idea why i cant keep them. I even QT all my fish for 1 month and DT is 100% disease pest free

Are Powder Blues harder to keep than Browns? I don't think I've heard that before.

I would say imo that Blues are harder to keep than browns based purely on my anecdotal experience. I have failed 2 times with blues. My Dad's office tank was able to keep a powder brown for several years and they could hardly keep clowns at one point.

I think when I started in the hobby I thought fish were the less difficult part and coral was more difficult. Now that has changed. At least for the fish still on the list of ones I want...
ie. copper band, Orange Spotted File fish, jeweled damsel... etc

I bought my PBT from Blue Zoo Aquatics. I’ve had very good fish from them. CBB can die for no reason it seems.

Although I didn't see him eat at the lfs I took a shot with the first one. The second day in the qt he got a bacterial infection and passed the following day. With the second one I made sure he was eating at the lfs and started a round of antibiotics from day one in the qt. While in the qt I started to feed him what I feed my fish hoping he would start eating the same. Unfortunately he wouldn't touch anything. I remembered reading about live blackworms and how they can induce a feeding response from finicky eaters so I gave them a shot and it worked, he took to them right away. For most of the time that's all he ate in the qt with the occasional mysis.
In March it will be two years the CBB has been in my tank. He's fat and healthy and is not afraid to mix it up with the other fish during feeding, not timid at all and eats everything now.

Where did you get the black live worms from? i have been looking for them JUST for this reason.

I get them from my lfs but lately they have been having trouble getting them from the suppliers. I've used both suppliers online for the Black worms.

Which lfs, I tried to find them local and had no luck. Ended up ordering some off a guy on eBay and they came in dead,
I just realized I have a bunch of aptasia in my DT so I think I need to try #3 but want to be prepared with worms if I'm going to try a CB again.

Just realized you aren't local to us lol. Back to the internet it is :hmm4:
That's okay I didn't realize that this was the SLASH thread lol. If you do get some Black Worms keep them in a container that enables you to rinse them easily like the one they sell at aquaticfoods.com. They start to die real quick when the water gets fouled.
I keep a quart jug of RODI water in the fridge and rinse them before feeding the fish. I rinse them every day but wouldn't go more than a day or two of not rinsing. I buy enough to last me 2 months and rinsing them keeps them alive for the whole time.

No worries, I'm really happy, and I really appreciate your help, to have someone that has experience other than reading threads from 10 years ago lol.
How much lasts you that long? The guy on eBay is selling 50ml for 40$ or 30 for 30.
I've read people using like a 10g aquarium and not having to rinse as often, have you had any experience with using that method?

Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread Lance lol...

I buy an 1/8 and that's enough to last 2 months. Never looked into another method for the worms like the 10g because the keeper is fine for me. If your SO has a problem with the worms being stored in the fridge, the tank method could be another option.
